Privacy Policy

Birthday Invitation Maker (birthdayinvitationmaker.com) helps parents and party venues make birthday invitations for children. This page says what we store, who can see it and when it is deleted.

Who we are

The operator's contact details are being added to this page.

What we store

  • Your invitation. What you type into the editor: the child's first name and age, the date, time and address of the party, an optional phone number, website, RSVP contact and message, and your style choices. The child's name and age are only used to build the invitation.
  • Photos and logos you upload. We re-encode every image, which removes its metadata, including any GPS location, and keep it only for your invitation. Venue logos you save as "my venue" are kept separately and are not tied to a child.
  • Replies from guests. When a guest answers on the party page we store the guest child's name, the parent's name, the answer, how many are coming, and the optional contact and note they type. Only the organizer can see replies, through the private edit link. They are never shown on the public party page.
  • Your email address. To download a PNG or PDF we ask for your email address and your agreement to be contacted by birthdayinvitationmaker.com about your invitation and related updates. We store the address, the wording you agreed to, which file you downloaded and when.
  • Technical data. Our server and Cloudflare, which sits in front of it, process your IP address and request details to deliver pages and limit abuse, and keep access logs. Those logs can include the address of the page you opened, which for the private edit link contains the link itself. Our application's own error log does not record edit links, guest answers or email addresses.

We have no accounts and no passwords.

What is stored in your browser

Our site sets no cookies of its own (Cloudflare may set technical ones to protect the site). We use your browser's local storage, on your device only, for:

  • the private edit links of invitations you made, so "my invitations" can find them;
  • the venue details and colors you saved with "Save as my venue";
  • the email address you gave to download, so you don't type it again.

Clear your browser's site data to remove them. If storage is blocked, the editor still works; bookmark your edit link instead.

Who sees it

  • Guests who have your party link or QR code see the invitation image, the date, time and address, the optional phone, website and message. They do not see your edit link.
  • Anyone with your private edit link can edit, download and delete the invitation and read its replies. Don't share it.
  • Service providers. The site runs on a server rented from Hetzner and is delivered through Cloudflare. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google. When a guest taps Google Maps, Apple Maps or Google Calendar, that service receives the party address.

We don't sell personal information and we don't show ads. We currently run no analytics. If we add privacy-friendly analytics, we will update this page first.

Children

The service is for parents and venues, not for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The child's name, age and photo are entered by the adult who makes the invitation, and guests' replies are written by their parents. If you think a child entered information themselves, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

  • Finished invitations, with their replies, photos, logos and download records: 90 days after the party date.
  • Deleted invitations: when you press "Delete invitation" in the editor, the party page stops working at once (guests see "deleted"). The data is erased 90 days later, or at the 90-day mark after the party if that comes first.
  • Unfinished drafts with no party date: 90 days after the last edit.
  • Email addresses given to download are kept with the invitation they were given for and erased with it. They are not kept longer for marketing.
  • Server logs are kept by our hosting setup and are not part of the invitation data.

A cleanup job erases expired data in periodic runs, so actual deletion can come a little after the day it is due. Server backups are encrypted and kept for up to about 12 months. Erased data can remain in them until they expire, and it is erased again if a backup is ever restored. Files you downloaded or sent to guests are outside our reach.

Your choices

  • Delete an invitation yourself with "Delete invitation" at the bottom of its editor page.
  • To ask what we hold about you, or to have your email address or a guest reply deleted, contact us. Send the party link (not your edit link) or the email address concerned.
  • You can withdraw your consent to be contacted at any time by telling us.

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you gave us, we will say so on this page before it starts.
